I became obsessed with smartphone photography. It showed me how I can capture a lot more things just passively, which is where VSCO came in for me, too.
For Cody Guilfoyle, the world is a sketchbook. A patch of light, a glass on a table, a moment on the street can all become sparks for what happens in the studio.

Cody moves between spontaneous captures and thoughtful still lifes, letting the two inspire each other.
There's also such a feeling for me when I use VSCO, itโs my starting place. I would encourage people to get on the platform, find your voice through the list of presets.

With VSCO, he plays with what heโs collected, shaping images where both worlds come together. Itโs how he turns passing details into something more than a photo.
I think working in the commercial space for this long, while I love everything that I do,it's just nice to create something either really scrappy or, like, really abstract.
